How long do cataract surgery results last?

In this post, Dr Matthew Russell from OKKO Eye Specialist Centre explains how long cataract surgery results last.

Your new lenses will last your lifetime. They’ll be with you for the rest of your days, giving you the same vision you got after you had cataract surgery.

Occasionally, you can develop a little scar tissue around the implant, which causes things to become that little less clear and sharp. This is not your cataract coming back. Once your cataracts are gone, they’re gone forever.

But, if you develop that little bit of scarring that can occur in anybody after cataract surgery – it’s easily treatable. This little scar can happen within a month, a year, or even ten years. Notwithstanding this relatively infrequent occurrence, which again is easily fixed, your vision is unlikely to change over your lifetime.

After cataract surgery, your new eyes will be with you forever.
