What does cataract surgery cost?

Dr Matthew Russell from OKKO Eye Specialist Centre answers a common question “how much does cataract surgery cost in Brisbane?”

First, there’s the cost of the consultation. You can find our current prices for that on our fees page on our website. You can get a medicare rebate on your consultation fee with a current referral from your Optometrist or GP.

The pricing of cataract surgery depends on whether you are insured or uninsured. If you’re insured, standard cataract and lifestyle cataract surgery will often be direct-billed to your health fund. However, laser cataract surgery has extra costs and what you’ll pay depends on your health fund.

If you’re uninsured, you can find everything you need to know about the pricing we offer on the fees page of our website. We charge different prices for standard, lifestyle, and laser cataract surgery. In every case, our prices include all follow-up for up to 6 months. Furthermore, our prices do not include anaesthetist’s fees.
